Breast MRI has become one of the latest standards of practice for the MRI community.

A recent American College of Radiology report stated that demand for breast exams will grow by 20% per year for the next few years.

Centers that are performing breast MRI will be required in January 2012 to pass ACR accreditation in order to be authorized to submit for reimbursement for the procedure. Currently, many centers that are doing Breast MRI may not pass the criteria for credentialing.

The American College of Radiology recently recommended that Dynamic Breast MRI studies with contrast be done after a questionable or inconclusive digital mammogram.  Christina Applegate, formerly of Married With Children fame, recently attributed her MRI Breast study to saving her life and catching her former disease at an early stage.The processes and criteria for scanning dynamic breast MRI is very specific.
